My dog has numerous food sensitivities so finding treats that dont exacerbate them is difficult.
My dog has numerous food sensitivities so finding treats that dont exacerbate them is difficult. Which is exactly the reason why these Canadian-made treats are awesome bc he had zero adverse reactions. Plus he really likes them.My only complaint is they are square in shape and I worry that it will get stuck in my dogs through because of the pointy corners.I break them in half but it’s not easy to do because they are fairly hard.Side note: i love the “model” on the packaging. An adorable blue staffie is eye catching, esp to those who love bully breeds!

I like the idea.
I don’t know why I like the idea of feeding my dog anything other than meat. She is a carnivore to the tips of her toes. And that’s what she’s supposed to be. What’s good for her human isn’t necessarily good for her. A canine digestive system won’t even try to process some of the stuff we feed ourselves and put in our dog’s food. But my girl is big on treats – meaning expensive packaged tidbits that usually cost more per ounce than prime rib. So, when the ingredients are not meat, but are not the questionable or outright harmful stuff, I usually give it shot to lean on the healthy side once in a while. The only drawback (besides the price) is that she usually won’t eat it if it isn’t meat. No problem with that in this case. She would have gone through the whole bag in about three minutes if I put it down. So, the ingredients get a check, and the flavor gets a check, and some day someone is going to figure out how to do these at a reasonable price. Until then, they are a very special treat.

It’s VEGAN Bacon
All the dogs in my building were loving these treats! They are little hard reddish squares the size of chex cereal. They don’t have a weird smell. If your pooch has teeth issues or no teeth, this may not be a good treat for them because they are hard and hard to break in half. For fur parents who do not want to touch meat, elt alone “pork” products, this is a good treat to consider. The resealable bag was more than half packed with treats that went quickly because the dogs were faking like they wanted to go outside often so they could get a treat from the front desk LOL.

May take some getting use to
These little chips (they’re flat crispy squares) were much harder and crunchier than I thought they would be. Since they’re vegan and sweet potato based I thought they’d be more like other sweet potato treats – chewy, similar to jerky. My dog must’ve thought the same thing because she bit into it and then spat all the pieces out. I fed her one of the smaller pieces again, and she ate it. Afterwards she ate the other pieces she dropped earlier, but wasn’t interested in another chip. I switched over to one of her old treats and she ate that.Next day, I used this chip again as a training reward. She knew what it was this time and didn’t spit it out. She was willing to accept more of them, though I’m not sure how much she likes them. Its not her preference (she eats her other treats first) but at least she doesn’t spit it out anymore. It does crumb a bit so I’ll plan to offer these outdoors.

Picky pup approved!
Our dog smelled these as soon as I opened the envelope they came in and got RIGHT in my business to see what it was that smelled so good. The bacun maple scent was definitely the more prominent one, but not in a bad way. He very eagerly did several tricks for them, and after giving it an initial two-nibble taste test, immediately came back for another. They’re a good size for a small treat for our big dog, but would also not be too large to give to a smaller breed as a more sizeable reward. We also really like that they’re vegan, since not all dog treats need to be meat-based.

Furbabies love these!
I assume these taste good as I haven’t tried them, but my furbabies get excited when they see me open the package and give them each one. I love that they are all natural and know my babies are not eating garbage.

One paw for yay; one for nay…
We have two spoiled little dogs who love treats. They both do a fair bit of begging, but the older one could make a career of it. I was excited to come across these treats as they have excellent ingredients and are free of allergens. Our dogs have a tendency towards itchy skin and the little one has a tender tummy, so these seemed to be perfect. The voting numbers, it turns out, are split 50/50: one dog loves these, the other one won’t touch them. Unfortunately there is no third party to cast the deciding vote, so the puppy politics remain split precisely down the middle.

The dog loves these!
Our family dog loves these and gets very excited when we get the bag out. At their current sale price, they’re definitely worthwhile for him. They will be great to use as a reward as he’s highly motivated to eat them (we weren’t surprised about that since the first ingredient is sweet potato, which he loves). We love that they’re all-natural, vegan, and made in Canada. It’s also impressive that they plant a tree for each bag sold. Exactly the type of company we like to support!

Pros:- High-quality, plant-based treats- Inclusion of gut-friendly ingredients, such as prebiotics and fiber, helps promote a healthy digestive system- No artificial preservatives, colours, or flavours added. Free from any animal-derived ingredients- Bite-sized makes them convenient for training purposes and portion control- Both of my dogs love these treatsThese Smokey Maple Bacun Bites are entirely plant-based, making them an excellent option for vegan and vegetarian pet owners. The combination of smokey maple and bacun (a vegan alternative to bacon) creates a savory taste that my dog absolutely loves. The aroma is enticing, and the flavour seems to keep my pups engaged and excited during training sessions or simply as a reward for good behavior. Additionally, the added ingredients for skin and coat health, such as omega fatty acids and biotin, can help improve the condition of my dogs coats, making them shinier and softer.

I’m impressed by the ingredient list of materials that go into making these VIVUS vegan dog treats. And my fussy male hunting hound, who does turn his nose up at all sorts of chewy treats – in other words, is a discriminating and picky guy with his snacks – had no trouble wolfing these down once he got his chompers into them. His initial introduction to these was not that of a ravenous wolf, however, as he wasn’t totally convinced they were going to be delicious just by his sniffing at them. But once he got one in his mouth and started crunching down, there was no stopping him. This is something to consider, as these little biscuits are to me, at a premium price range that one would have to be fairly well-to-do to keep these in stock for the year, year after year. It’s kind of a drag that dog food prices are escalating so much generally. I am seeing it at my vets, and if you want to go “down market”, you go to the big box stores where you’re getting that slightly diminished nutritional product. So premium dog food products like this come at a premium price, and there’s no getting around that. If you want to splash out around Christmas time for your dog, or give the dog a special treat once in a blue moon, this is your treat for them, and you will have no pangs of guilt that you might be giving them junk food. This is good quality stuff. But if it’s a regular feature in your dog’s diet, you will pay handsomely for that habit. Recommended. Especially for millionaires!

I had high hopes for these little dog treats, as I work my way thought “one of everything” in hopes I can find a treat my dog likes. I have been working my way through a number of Vivus brand things because they are Canadian-formulated and made and I prefer to have local/domestic foods. These are VERY crunchy little squares (in fact, I had to apply pressure breaking them into smaller pieces), the full size would be for a larger dog, a small dog like mine definitely needs them broken down. They are packed with good ingredients that should offer a little bit of health benefit (including shinier coat, as the description explains). These treats also smell AMAZING, and I hoped it would appeal to my dog.In the end, my dog (who is EXTREMELY difficult to feed, because he is that picky) sniffed them, and would not take them three days in a row. I don’t think that’s the fault of the company or the treat, it’s this little dude who won’t take ANY treats at all. I was so disappointed, because “on paper” this is a fantastic treat option, but it didn’t work for our dog. I would recommend it to people whose dogs are not so picky, because it’s a healthy, vegan option (on paper!) to aid in training.

We have a very picky boy when it comes to treats. Really picky. He has turned down many a treat in his life and we eventually gave up and just let him have the occasional smoked bone instead. Once in a while we try something new. These Smoky Maple Bacun Bites were the next up. THEY ARE A HIT!!! He didn’t even hesitate! He has not turned these down once! I got to thinking maybe it’s the smoke flavour he likes and could leave everything else. We didn’t get these all that long ago and they’re already gone. I hesitate to try another flavour but am hopeful this brand will be his jam! The squares are the perfect size for a quick treat for our 120lb boy and are quite a firm but slightly soft texture. As in crunchy but not rock hard. Whatever it is about these treats, our boy loves them therefore I love them! Recommend!

You might think “a dog will eat anything”, but you’d be wrong. Our dog has definite preferences when it comes to food, and that includes his treats. For example, his tummy seemed to be upset, so I bought canine medicated pumpkin to help settle it down. Even after one of the cats tried to steal it from him, the best he could manage was to lick it, and then do the dog’s version of a human trying something unexpectedly sour or bitter – head down and to the side, eyes screwed shut, and a little head shake. Nope, not eating that! These treats came, and since we had fooled him with some other treats and the pumpkin, he was leary about doing more than sniff. He reluctantly took the first one, the second one was easier, and the third confirmed he at least liked them. After that he actively looks to get them and devours them quickly. There’s no question these treats are a winner!!
