  1. K. A. Kantardjieff

    Innovative vegan recipes
I saw a video for one of the recipes in this book and, after previewing online, purchased it. There are many main dishes that even meat eaters would enjoy, along with staples like “cheese” and various dressings. Given the collection of recipes, this cookbook is a good value for the money. The quality of the book itsellf is very good hardcover.

    Love this book
I haven’t made any recipes using the recommended commercial products but instead have used the included recipes for the faux meats. I’ve made Juicy Chicken – Charbroiled Succulent Steak – Pork Tenderlove – Marinated Tender Fillet of Beef – Instant Burger, Patty, Meatball, and Crumbles Mix – Confit of Chicken and Baby Potatoes with Braised Fennel and Cabbage – Chinese Tender Pork – BBQ Stick-to-Your-Ribs with Pineapple Barbecue Sauce – and Prosciutto. I did not love the Prosciutto or the yuba stick BBQ ribs but everything else has been great. I do see possibilities for the Prosciutto and will experiment with it more. I have made a lot of seitan over the years and my friends thought the Fillet of Beef was the best seitan they’ve ever had. I have a birthday coming up and I plan to make the Cassoulet. I’ll continue to test the recipes and use the meat recipes in my own creations. This book was money well spent.

    The Next Level
I’ve been vegan for over ten years and I adore this book. I love vegan cooking and I always cook 100% vegan but I do tend to live in very small towns so, full disclaimer, I flex now and then at restaurants, and most of my friends are not vegan or even vegetarian. That being said, there are recipes in this book I want to make for my friends, vegan or not, and I think they will truly enjoy the cooking. I cannot wait to try a hand at making vegan lobster and calamari! This is a true cook book – it inspires me to cook from start to finish. I really like the fact that the recipes feature store-bought vegan meats for when I’m short on time but also suggest which homemade vegan meat recipes can be used for when I really want to spend a day in the kitchen COOKING and getting creative. I’m certain Miyoko’s recipes hit all the flavors. Firstly, I want to make the Pambazos (because I’ve been to Mexico and they look amazing). Very, very pleased to add this cook book to my collection. Thank you Miyoko.

    Great Price and As Described
Very happy! I’ve wanted Miyoko’s meat cookbook for quite a while so this was a deal I could not pass by. Book arrived when promised and exactly as described.

    Disappointed ***UPDATED 4/26/22***
*** UPDATE after trying some of the recipes.Tried zen kabobs and they are amazing!! Very seriously worth trying, it reads like they were part of her diner she had run way earlier in her life. The meat recipes in the back are definitely worth the effort. The cheese recipes at the VERY back are all perfect. Returning a star. There are a LOT of French cooking recipes in here- if that is something you’re looking for in your plant based life maybe try it out.***This is SO disappointing. I LOVE her other cookbooks, use the vegan pantry all the time. This book is focused heavily on meats, and not store boughten exclusively- but almost entirely seitan (wheat gluten) based. It is difficult to alter any of the recipes as the fake meat is clearly what the recipes revolve around – yes I see the title- however it didn’t seem like it would be 100% of the recipes either. Her other cookbooks have variety in a way this one does not. There are very beautiful food pics every 5 to 7 pages.I uploaded pics of the index so people could read the recipe names prior to purchasing, as that is not something I had the opportunity to do.Not sure this buy was worth the money, may update at a later date when I cook a few more from it.

    Delightful cookbook
As an avid vegan cook Miyoko’s book is a great addition to my cookbook collection. This is not a beautiful cookbook that will just decorate my shelf – there are so many heart healthy delicious looking recipes – this book will be used often.

    I Love This Book
I Love this book…I will however agree with a previous review, that at first glance I was not as excited to see the recipes using store bought vegan meats. I was so looking forward to Miyoko’s personal recipes for homemade vegan meats. Once I was able to really look at the book as a whole, I found her personal recipes, and see that the recipes using the store bought version of the vegans meats also refer you to the recipe to make your own. This is great to have Miyoko’s opinion on what works best with the store bought version, and if you have time to make your own. I love all of the personal tips and descriptions of the recipes, giving honest and real feedback from her experiences with the recipes. I Love that this book is great for beginning and advanced chefs, as well as beginning and experienced vegans. All of the recipes are very approachable, and all sound and look delicious. I am looking forward to trying them all. Thank you Miyoko for another amazing vegan cookbook, as well as all that you do for the Animals!

This is a tough one. But for the right person will be an amazing resource!
I love and adore the other books she has written. I love the products made. “I” do not personally love this cookbook. It arrived today and at first read through I realized it was not what “I” thought right off hand. If you are starting out and want recipes that use and rely on store bought vegan replacement meats and if you don’t know how to work with store bought vegan meat products. This is 100% for you. She breaks down each company and then has made recipes that use the store bought meat substitutes. They are wonderful and creative. As for the small chapter that offers recipes that make the replacement items. It does heavily rely on vital wheat gluten. I am going to give five stars because it is a cookbook that others I hope will use as a platform to jump into the meat free pool. It will be an excellent resource. But for those that are tried and true vegans or those that avoid processed foods all they can, or for the gluten free. This is not really for you.

  9. Kindle Customer

Easy use. Not hard to do. Plenty of gluten free types given. This book is needed for a well rounded vegan library.
