    The best cookbook ever
I wish I could give this book 10 stars. Unlike many others that I own, this cookbook has differentiated itself from the rest because Jackie has done a phenomenal job creating clean vegan recipes that are so delicious, so healthy, and so easy to make for everyone. Not to mention the awesome photography involved in this book. You don’t have to be a chef to make these recipes. I am not a cook, yet I get fantastic results by following the easily written instructions and ingredients. You don’t have to be vegetarian or vegan to enjoy the meals, either. In fact, I bought three copies of this book. One for me, and I gifted two copies to friends who are not even vegetarians. When they tasted some of the recipes I made, they immediately asked me where I got them from.I highly recommend buying her book, following her on Instagram, and visiting her website.

A Compelling Introduction to the Plant-Based Diet as Way of Life or Options for the Curious
From the opening, this book makes a plant-based diet accessible, fun, interesting, and (of course) tasty. The foreword is an honest introduction that helps you understand the purpose of the book, what it is, and what it is not. The “Vegan Clean-Eating Essentials” will help you build a pantry full of raw ingredients that are both necessary for many of the recipes and good to have for those who are exploring plant-based recipes and snacks, generally. Practically speaking, the recipe formatting is easy-to-read and understand. The introductions to each recipe give some insight into why the recipe is included and what you can expect — and there is a LOT of the author’s personality sprinkled throughout the book. The images are both enticing and honest. Finally and, of course, most important: the recipes that I have had a chance to taste are delicious. I am not one who will switch to an exclusively plant-based diet, but the recipes in this book will allow me to make sure my plant-based selections are delicious and healthy.

Don’t be greedy… get this great gift for friends too!
Perhaps you’re reading this because you want the NEW coolest cookbook on the market… or maybe you love your friends and want them to be healthier, better cooks, so you buy some CLEAN VEGAN books. I went with a bakers dozen! How about you?…Bar none, simply the best Vegan cookbook to hit the best seller shelves. You don’t even have to be “VEGAN” to appreciate the flavors bursting out of the pages. Jackie takes time to explain the what and why not just the how. This makes a lot more sense and is easier to understand cooking this way. Starting with refrigerator and pantry staples, what they are, why they are used and extra tips to deliver on the how, she helps you navigate the complex world of “clean & whole” foods. Using replacement, healthy, ingredients while ousting the bad ones, you will recognize many of them have been on the shelves all along, as I have seen them next to the less healthy versions of name brands I historically go with.Jackie’s deep dive of research is found like cliff-notes in the quick, at-a-glance, information section which is worth the book itself! She even details which ingredients are best or useful substitutes for different dietary restrictions like gluten or lactose as well as allergies. The CLEAN VEGAN cook book is packed with 60 recipes that each have a stunning photograph which will certainly help you understand how the finished dish should look (especially if you eat first with your eyes like me). I tend to steer away from recipes that don’t have a picture and her photos are delicious!Whether you are a long time vegan or like me, looking for new, easy, tasty & healthier choice recipes, this book is the smart buy which will become a regular go to pull from the cookbook cupboard. If you have a sweet tooth you will crave Jackie’s Lemon-Ginger Bars or her White Chocolate Covered Crasin Cookie Dough Bites. Maybe you desire the savory side like me and want her mouth watering “Best Ever Veggie Burger”, the recipes are well thought out. My personal favorite is the Rainbow Wraps with Creamy Thai Peanut Sauce. Not only a presentation kaleidoscope it’s a scrumptious flavor explosion. I just love when food tastes as good as it looks. And take it from me… I know food.Chef Schiestel

This is a great recipe book
I watched the podcast with Rip Esselstyn and immediately was impressed with Jackie Ackerburg. Confident and oriented to making vegan food exciting. All the recipes are interesting, colorful and tasty. This has been our ‘go to’ book for some of the most delicious vegan foods that we’ve found. Some of the ingredients are very difficult or sometimes, impossible to find, so we’ve had to substitute, but we’ve been able to do that while not altering the healthiness or taste. We’ve recommended this to any number of whole plant based vegans. Impressive tastes without the sugar, salts and refined products. If you enjoy cooking healthy foods, this cookbook sets the new standard and is a must to have.

    Beautiful Cookbook – Clean Ingredients!
We received our new cookbook and couldn’t be more excited. There is a beautiful picture for almost every recipe, with complete and well written instructions. One reviewer’s mention of oil in most recipes is misleading. Most recipes do not mention oil and when it is – it typically denotes “water, vegetable broth or avocado oil, as needed”. I found one recipe where you need to spray avocado oil on a cast-iron skillet, and that practice for cast-iron was approved by PCRM (the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine) during an online class that I attended. Salad recipes with kale call for 1/2 tsp. of oil and lemon juice to massage the entire bunch of kale – this is not a problem for me. I do not massage my kale, but if I wanted to try it, I could use a little bit of avocado or miso paste in place of this small amount of oil. I am personally excited to try the salad dressing recipes – none of which include oil – they all sound delicious! The ingredients in this book are in fact clean, nutrient dense, whole food plant-based ingredients!

My girlfriend is vegan and Celiac and I am a vegan so to find a book that covers both is a nice treat. The recipes are easy to follow, the ingredients are fairly common (in a plant based kitchen) and the food is delicious.

  7. Astral Traveller

I am very disappointed that a book that purports to be about “clean” eating and presents itself as “whole food plant based” includes oil in most recipes and lists avocado oil and olive oil as staple pantry items.Oil is the ultimate junk food, pure fat with almost no nutritional benefit; it’s the most calorically dense substance, it causes weight gain, contributes to the onset of type 2 diabetes and clogs arteries. The whole idea with the whole food plant based lifestyle is to eat plants as they exist in nature, not denatured by pressing and extracting the fat and throwing away the fiber and nutrients.Yes, I can use the recipes as inspiration (as some are interesting) and adapt them to be without oil but I already have millions of recipes in my own old cookbooks plus the whole internet for that. I feel super annoyed at having to adapt the recipes from a book that pretends to be whole food vegan but it’s not. I am only interested in truly whole food plant based recipes with no modification needed. To me this book is not worth it, the title and blurb are deceptive. I will probably return it.

Didn’t find much of interest for us here, but Amazon won’t allow a return of the ebook.Be very cautious when purchasing ebooks that one cannot adequately preview.
