Move over Oxbow. Science Select is a big hit with my boys
I’ve now been using this for 3 months and my 5 boys love it. I tried many different brands of rat food most of them got less than enthusiastic reactions. Oxbow was the only food they liked, but recently in the last year I’ve noticed them turning their noses up at it and looking for something else from me. Ended with me giving them too many treats to make up for it lol. Decided to try Science Select after hearing good things from fellow Rat lovers and its a major hit. The kibble itself is 3 times bigger than Oxbow and apparently much better ingredients. My boys are excited for meal times again and are eating every last crumb of it. I’ll be sticking with this for now on. Unfortunately may be looking elsewhere to buy it if the price stays this way. It jumped up from 15 to 18.50. Oxbow regular 3lb bag is less than $12. This is a 4lb bag but the $18.50 price is a lil high, sad face. Hoping the price comes back down because I go through 2 bags a month with giving them fresh veggies and fruits. It would be more if I wasn’t able to give them fresh foods but since I cook a lot with produce it also helps use up stuff and not have spoiled food since I like to buy from our produce junction, cheap bulk.

    Picky boys eat it!
I have 3 rats, Titus,Curly, and Theodore. My Titus is rapidly approaching 4 and was getting fussy with his food even oxbrow was rejected. But now all my little buddies eat happily! It’s only 12 and can feed them well for a month! Which is amazing given oxbrow was 13 for maybe 1/2 a month. I’m grateful for the change they’re all doing so well and this will be my go to for when I have mice or rats again!

    Good
My rats love this food and it’s a. good quality, not like that seed junk sold in pet stores

    Rat food
My friend who breeds rats said her rats absolutely love this food. She was hoping to find a 50 pounds bag. Wish you made bigger bags.

Good quality food for the price!
We love this food for our rat babies! They love it as well. We use this as the base for the Shunamite Diet and mix in lots of other healthy foods for them. It’s good bang for your buck and perfect as long as you’re adding lots of other healthy foods!

    Passed the palette test… Adding a “but”…
We’ve given all our various *adult* rats this food, and they’re happy with it. We scatter it in their home, and they go hunting for it and take it from our hands like it’s a treat. That it’s a healthy food is perfect!BUT… They recently changed to cheap bags that don’t reseal with a “zipper.” Dropping rating to 4 stars until the packaging is what we’ve come to expect.ORIGINAL REVIEW: We have two rattie boys — one who’ll eat anything that is not broccoli and one with a palette for the finer foods in life. πŸ™‚ They’ve been on a base food that probably should’ve been stopped when they became “adults” in rattie years. The LOVE it, but anti-Broccoli Boy is getting to be a fatty rattie. We hope to switch to this and with more exercise time, get his weight down. When it arrived today, I crossed my fingers and offered both one kibble as a treat…THEY BOTH LOVE IT! Mom likes that it’s kibbles, so they’ll think it’s treats. πŸ˜‰ (And the nutritional part!!)Together with bits of fruits and veggies, we are looking forward to a svelt little rattie again soon. πŸ™‚

    Great quality
These are a great quality block for the price point. I use them as a base in a blend. My rats still eat the blocks with everything else. They mischief seems to really like these blocks.

    My mice’s favorite block food
I always mix 2-4 different brands when re-filling my mice’s dish. I want them to have options and variety of flavors and nutrients so I mix a lot of different block foods, and sprinkle some seed mix over it to top it off.Of all the ones they’ve tried, this one seems to be everyone’s favorite block food. They’ve tried Mazuri, Teklad, Oxbow Essentials & Garden Select. They always finish Science Selective first (after the seed mix of course lol). It’s been this way for 2 generations of mice. So I would definitely recommend this.
