No Carrageenan – Good Omega-3 Supplement
Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, unless you eat a lot of fish, you are likely lacking Omega-3 in your diet. There are lots of brands out there, but most of them contain Carrageenan. Carrageenan is known to cause intestinal inflammation in some studies. Some other brands of Omega-3 supplements also contain other vitamins that you don’t need, nor do you want in high concentrations. I was happy to have found this plant-based vegan Omega-3 supplement. As for why pick algae oil instead of fish oil? Well for one, fishy burps and aftertaste? Ew no thanks. But in nature, fish gets their Omega-3 from eating algae. So why kill the fish for their oil when you could go straight to the source, and consume algae oil instead? It just makes sense. These softgels are easy to swallow, absolutely no aftertaste or foul burps. They contain a good amount of DHA & EPA per serving. If you’re a vegetarian, you absolutely need these Omega-3 supplements. And really we should support a company that knows to not use carrageenan and other unwanted vitamins in their Omega-3 supplement. I highly recommend these.

Great Product, Silly Bottle
BOTTLE: They recently changed the bottle from a standard pill bottle with a convenient flip top to a multi-textured wide mouth. While the new bottle may be “cute” it’s not functional. I don’t want a handful of pills every time I tip the bottle. I want TWO. Perfect example of marketing driving design without regard to function. Fortunately, I saved an old bottle which I now just refill and reuse, because the new bottles are so annoying.PRODUCT: The product is great. I switched to Algae oil from fish oil and I’m and very happy knowing it is more sustainable, closer to the source, and less likely to contain toxins. Pure and no smell or fishy burps… Win!Unfortunately, I can give less than 5 stars just because I don’t like the new bottle. But I hope the designers hear my cry! Save us the extra cost of a “cute” bottle and give us something that helps us use your product!!!

Straight to the point
I like that these are straight from the source, not killing fish to get it. They have a good flavor as well on the coating.

Great quality and results!
I have tried several vegan omega 3 supplements and this by far is the best one. The lemon scent is pleasant and the capsule is not too large.

Love smell and quality, but gave me acid reflux
I’ve been on a desperate hunt for fish oil ever since I realized most versions give me SEVERE acid reflux. As in, an entire day of reflux. I’ve tried eating before food, after food, with food, and it makes no difference. I don’t know why this makes me have the strong urge to try every brand on the planet, but here we are.Unfortunately, this supplement gives me reflux like all the others. I was hoping that since it was algae, it would be different, but alas, it’s the same results as their regular fish oil. The only brand I can take as of right now is Nordic Naturals fish oil (which gives me minor burps but no reflux). For people who have reflux as a result of these, maybe try that brand instead. For those who aren’t struggling with reflux, these seem to be high quality and have a great amount of omega 3. I honestly loved how they smelled, so I’m bummed they didn’t work for me.

THIS BRAND OF ALGAE OIL SAVES ME!
As a vegetarian for over 35 years, I’ve recently found I can’t take capsules made with cellulose (or use cellulose as a filler) without an attack of a rare condition of constant chain belching for hours, very bad nasal swelling, and sometimes shortness of breath as well. That’s odd since vegetarians can eat vegetables that have cellulose with no problem. So it occurred to me that it must be the SOURCE of the cellulose that must be the culprit! Finally, I looked up the sources of cellulose caps online. Verdict? One source said “pine or poplar trees” another said “pine or spruce”. Regardless, I can’t take any supps unless they’re made with gelatin (yep, sad for a vegetarian) or some other non-cellulose caps like tapioca starch or pullulan. That leaves me with the very painful job of tossing out all my cellulose filled or capped supplements and find the rarer non-cellulose equivalents. In this case, I was looking for an Algae Oil based Omega 3 with NO carrageenan and NO cellulose! There is only one other Algae Oil, NO carrageenan product that I could find, BUT it has a cellulose cap. I have some of those but have to cut them open with a pair of scissors and squeeze the highly flavored oil in them onto my food to get them down. Not only does it not taste good, some of the oil is lost by not being able to get it all out of the cap.Imagine the relief when the Sports Research brand of Algae Oil Omega-3 was found to fit my health needs perfectly with no carrageenan and no cellulose! And what’s even better, it’s a vegetarian cap (tapioca starch not gelatin)! While it has a little less DHA as the other brand I was using, it has way more EPA. So not a lesser product in that respect!”I’m almost panting, I’m so happy to have found something that saves me at least on this one supplement! I’m hoping that Sports Research will expand their supplement line using the same type of capsules.

Easy on my tummy
I have IBS and don’t keep fish in my diet. This was recommended since fish oil is not a possibility. I’ve been taking two a day in the morning. They smell like verbena, which is pretty cool. There’s a little heart inside that is for keeping them dry or fresh I suppose and it smells like verbena. The pills don’t really have any taste and they are flexible and easy to swallow. The packaging seems pretty nice and the company was listed as being pretty reputable. I would say to anyone that it was a good purchase.

3rd Pty Tested, No Carrageenan, Vegan
I have been using this for about 3 years and I can attest to the fact that it is an extremely high quality product. I especially like that it doesn’t contain carrageenan. I’ve written reviews for this product before but I feel like the continued high quality deserves to be recognized.
