    Finally a good pasta substitute
I have tried the shirataki and konjac noodles before learning of this pasta substitute and all I can say is thank goodness for an edible substitute for pastas. The konjac and shirataki products are disgusting and rubbery no matter how you try to cook them. These Palmini noodles were actually close to a pasta texture and when I made my lasagna I rinsed them in cold water and then boiled for 7 minutes. They ended up reminding me of al dente pasta so next time I will boil them longer to soften them up more. I will definitely buy these again and look forward to trying the linguine.

    Yummy low carb noodles
I wasn’t sure what these would taste like but after starting keto I was craving Lasagna. I used 2 1/2 cans and created a AMAZING delicious lasagna ( my family couldn’t taste the difference) that made my heart sing. The only down side is they are pricey but after I researched how hearts of palm is harvested I understood why the cost is high. So this will be reserved as a “special occasion” item.

Much better than any low-carb substitute I have found.
Much better than any low-carb substitute I have found. I’ve tried the Japanese seaweed noodles and they were slimy and always taste of seaweed. These noodles absorb the taste of my spaghetti sauce. However they’re much smaller than I thought they would be, see the picture. They’re only about 1 1/2” x 3” and therefore do not maintain the layers of the lasagna. So I basically have a meat sauce with cheese and big noodles floating around in a soup. I rinsed them in a colander and then put them for 30 minutes in milk as instructed. Therefore they lost any taste they might’ve come with. If I had known that these hearts of palm come in skinny spaghetti noodles I would’ve just made spaghetti instead of going to all the trouble of making the layers of the lasagna. They are hard to cut with the side of a spoon and I end up taking the whole noodle at one time. I suppose I could use a knife and fork to cut them up but then why did we use the big noodle? Taste wise like i said they taste like my spaghetti sauce with a little bit of crunch like a hard squash would be. If the thin noodles come this short then they too will not be as nice as having a long spaghetti noodles. I can cut these thicker ones into thin pieces and see if they work well as spaghetti I have used sliced zucchini for the layers in the past. I like the taste of zucchini but it does kind of change the lasagna taste. These don’t make any change to the taste of the lasagna. So for the most part it’s OK. Maybe next time I’ll double up the amount so they overlap maybe that will hold the layers in tact. One can of the noodles only provided one layer of my 13 x 9“ pan and half of the second layer. See the picture above. So I had to spend time waiting for the second Can to rinse before I could finish the job.

Give it a try! It’s worth the experiment!
Taste: Good alternative to wheat pasta. You can taste a little bit of the hearts of palm / citrus flavor, but the flavor it doesn’t over power the lasagne with the sauce and cheese additions. Imagine the taste of artichoke hearts to get an idea of the hint of flavor.Texture: Perfect alternative. I simply drained the can, rinsed the noodles and dried them with a paper towel (I did not heat them to soften them). This resulted in a perfectly al denté texture once baked in the oven as the lasagne. The lasagne held together and cut perfectly.Size: the noodles themselves are much smaller sheets than normal lasagne noodles, but I just patched them together and it did the trick to layer the lasagne.Overall: I loved the result and will def. buy these again. My husband – who is my favorite gauge in these types of alternative items – loved the lasagne and also felt they were a strong substitute.Recommendation: Try it!

    Not Worth the Cost
We knew this was a gamble trying this, but due to the high protein content, and it being gluten free, we gave it a try.The flavor and texture were nowhere near pasta! The ‘noodle’ sheets were easy to use and create a good looking lasagne with, but they didn’t get soft at all! The crunch and rubbery texture were not at all pleasant.I suppose if you are desperate this product could possibly be used, but at the price point and none guaranteed availibility I will stick with real pasta, store bought or home made.

    Interesting product
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but these were pretty darn good. We are eating from the clean Keto diet plan so no pastas for us these days. I bought these as a sub for lasagna noodles and they did just fine as a stand in. I made a seafood lasagna and they held up very well. They do stay a bit firm, like just sightly less than “al dente” regular pasta. Raw, I got a hint of a bit of artichoke flavor but not once cooked in the dish I made. They are expensive as “pasta” goes, but not bad for this type of specialty item. One can had plenty of “sheets” to make an 8 x 8 three layer lasagna.

    They NEVER got soft
I read that to get them soft you needed to soak, and then boil. So I did. They never got soft. They had the crunch of a root vegetable. maybe I got a bad can or a tough batch- or maybe all the people who gave them a good review either were starving and were going to pass out if they did not get some food soon. – Or maybe they like to eat their lasagna noodles with a serrated knife- cuz you ain’t cutting these noodles with nothing else.Just so there is no confusion: I soaked them in water for 45 minutes and then boiled them for 40 minutes. Then made the lasagna and cooked it in the oven 30 minutes. Got it out, tried to “cut” me some- and put it back in the oven another 20 minutes. I give up. They make you buy three cans for a reason. You may never buy them again, and apparently they have invested a ton in Palmini trees . Yeah I know this is palm- but it must be the bark of the pam tree.

    Great flavour and great substitute

    Good

Está muy buena! Pero si que se nota que no es pasta porque esta es más fibrosa, no queda tan blandita como la pasta.

I made keto lasagna with these ‘noodles’. IMO said really couldn’t tell the difference between regular noodles and these. At first I was afraid to smell them when I took them out. They smell a lot like water chestnuts. Love being able to make keto lasagna, I only needed to cans for a full 9×13 – 2 layer lasagna. Definitely getting more.

I found this a perfect replacement for pasta sheets. Did what others recommended rinsed and boiled for a few minutes till soft and added them just like pasta sheets to my lasagna. Didnt tell my family and none of them noticed it wasnt pasta . Fantastic.
