Smokey Yum!
Tempeh is already cooked, so just microwave for 1 min & 30 seconds to heat it up. I cut them into pieces and use them in a “BLT” salad. Even better in a BLT sandwich. I also add them to black-eyed peas or split pea soup for a great smokey vegan dish! Yum! This item is a staple in my weekly groceries.

Love the flavor, Not bacon – but what substitute is…
Love the flavor and I cook a bit longer than suggested. I like the outside edge to be a bit dark almost “burnt” and we put this in homemade MacNcheese or in BLTs as the bacon.

Like bacon
I got these through Whole Foods and when I opened the package I was surprised to find this tempeh in slices like bacon! It was actually a pleasant surprise as it opened up many ways of using it as a substitute for the real thing! As much as I love bacon, I don’t love the fat and curing that comes along with most of it! This is a nice alternative, full of smoked flavor!

Delicious!
I have to say I hate tempeh. But it’s healthy for you and I saw this and decided to try it. I absolutely love it! The best way to cook it is to put it in the oven sprayed with a little olive oil at 425 until it crisps up. This made an amazing BLT. I highly recommend. The flavor is like Smokey bacon the texture is good. Coming from person that hates Tempeh it says Alot. Try it!

Fantastic
I am so surprised to say that I absolutely loved this. Toasted some on the pan and ate with eggs and avocado toast. Yum. Good smokiness, flavor profile and texture plus it doesn’t make me feel gross after eating it. Personally love it over turkey bacon and maybe even regular bacon. Would purchase again x100.

Terrible
I thought I could like this but the smoked taste is so bad and the texture as well! It’s nothing like what the intended flavor is supposed to mimick! I wish they would call it smoked flavored soy beans cuz that what it tastes like and that’s what it is !

taste changes as it is cooked
Straight out of the package, this is a mild flavored, slightly bitter, slightly granular snack. You put it in hot pan with oil and start cooking. When partially cooked–hot but not shrunk and very dark–the bitter taste comes forward and is unpleasant to eat, so continue frying.Fry till shrunken all over, very dark and STIFF [like bacon LOL] and you get a mild tasting but vaguely bacon-like treat.More frying–and I can’t tell the difference by looks or stiffness–the stuff is burned and must be thrown out.I’d say, even if you eat meat or dairy or eggs this product is worthy of consumption from time to time, not to mention accommodating those who are against eating meat or dairy or eggs.Stars subtracted due to high price and hard to properly prepare.

Delicious!
I’ve bought this tempeh before and tried to make my own “bacon” but this ready-made version is far better than mine. I think it has more to do with the texture because mine sort of fell apart, whereas this pre-made version doesn’t do that. I tried both pan frying and air frying and both turned out great. So, I will no longer be making my own and buying this instead! I’m eating it right now on a sandwich with Follow Your Heart Avacado Oil mayo, organic slices of tomato, lettuce, red onion, and avacado. It is absolutely delicious! Yesterday I made a baked potato surrounded with lettuce and drizzled Kite Hill queso over the potato and lettuce, then topped with Forager’s sour cream, chives, tomato, and crumbled tempeh bacon. It was amazing!
