Easy to transition my pup over
This food was pretty good for my 1 year old 27lb heeler. She eats it with enthusiasm, but for the sake of an honest review I think I should note she does that with almost all food. I took a few weeks to transition her over and I did not notice any digestion issues and she is still full of life and energy. I like that it has a lot of protein since my heeler is a very active dog and they tend to be on the stocker end once fully matured. I can’t fully state if all the claims in the description of this food are true since my puppy has always been healthy and her breed is known for being healthy, but part of me did feel like I was giving her the high life when feeding her this food. The packaging is good and I like that is able to be sealed back. I will note though that I received my food in early November of 2023 and the expiration date is in February of 2024. With that being stated if you are the type to buy in bulk I would advise against such if you have a medium dog, or at least be mindful of such. Overall I am happy with this food and I like that this company has sustainable ways of producing their food in addition to spreading awareness of your carbon footprint.

    Worth a shot
We have a 2 year old golden doodle that is allergic to chicken so finding dog food that doesn’t have chicken in it has always been a challenge for us. We tried this food out for him and after 2 months he was still eating it. We didn’t notice any problems with his appetite or changes to how often he needed to go to the bathroom. To be honest I don’t know he was overly excited to eat it, but sometimes you have to meet in the middle so that you don’t find yourself cleaning up diarrhea because of a chicken allergy.

My dogs like it, but their stomachs don’t
First off, I agree that we need to find more sustainable foods for our pets. The resources of our planet are finite, but the number of people and pets continues to grow. And allocating more resources for ourselves means taking away resources from those living in the wilderness. Plus, I don’t like the idea that other animals are enslaved just to provide food for my animal. I’m not comfortable with that arrangement. So, I’m the right demographic to be trying this new, Sustainable Dog Food.I tried giving it to our four dogs. One of them was not interested, and another would only eat it mixed with other ‘nonsustainable’ food. The two others loved it, but they’re the kind of dogs that will eat anything.I began slowly, mixing a small handful of the kibble in with their regular kibble. The idea was to begin increasing the amount of sustainable kibble, and decreasing their regular kibble. On top of that, they also always get plenty of raw meats and veggies.Although the three test subjects ate all of their sustainable kibble, a very small amount, I worried that their stomachs were not on board with this small dietary change. I realize that it can take a few weeks for dogs’ stomachs to adjust to new foods, so I waited. But I noticed that their softer than normal stools were not improving, and the youngest seemed to be having the hardest time. So I cut back the portions further. But again saw no improvement. So we took a break for about a month, then slowly started up again. But I was seeing the same digestive issues implying intestinal inflammation, probably due to some ingredient(s) not being properly digested.Because my dogs eat a wide variety of things, including grass and dirt and things they pick up on walks, in addition to a variety of human food and scraps, I cannot therefore pin their digestive issues on this new sustainable food.Sustainable or not, I tend to feel that it is good to expose them to a wide array of nutrition sources, like berries and potatoes and veggies, and a wide array of different meats. I feel it improves their digestive tolerance and capacity by feeding them a range of different natural foods. But I cannot justify doing so if it may be causing them digestive distress.I noticed that canola oil is high on the list of ingredients. And while it is widely considered safe for dogs, there are some dogs who have an intolerance for canola. Could this be what’s going on? I don’t know.I would recommend that people try out a small/sample bag with their own pet, and see how it goes. I’m not sure that. at this point, I could recommend completely switching over to sustainable, all at once. I feel that because diet is so important to health, that such transitions need to be done in carefully monitored stages. For what it is worth, the food seems to be an assortment of high quality ingredients. And although I realize that this food was made to meet the dietary needs of dogs, it is essentially vegan. And while I may have broken some unwritten rule here and cannot recommend others do likewise, I can tell you from my own experience that this new, sustainable kibble tastes a lot like toasted whole wheat sourdough. I’m just sayin’.Perhaps, some time in the future, dogs will have evolved to thrive on eating sustainable vegan diets. And the lion will lie down with the lamb. But for now, I think we still have some more work to do before our dogs will be eating sustainably, and be happy and healthy doing so.

    Dry, sustainable puppy kibble
I ordered this to see if I could get either of my two dogs to eat it and they both really liked it. I added it to their treat toys and they got it out faster than they should’ve. Although this food is catered to puppies, I sometimes add a little puppy food to their normal meals and didn’t really think they would like this being as it has no meat type protein in it, but I was wrong. Even my picky girl wants it. The issue I have is the extremely high cost of this kibble. I just don’t understand this being a sustainable option for people, long term, with their furbabies. Even though the ingredient list is considerably good, this is dried kibble so a lot of the nutritional value would have been cooked out of it to create it. I feel like it’s a decent dog food, ingredient-wise, but the cost is an issue.
