As I’ve aged, I’ve become very sensitive to overwhelming, artificial scents. I learned that this is quite common – it has to do with our progressively weaker immune system. For the past 35 years, I have sought products without those negative characteristics. It got to the point where even the soap that floats caused minor rashes and itchy skin.Constantly scanning the store shelves for gentle, human-friendly personal care products, I saw something new to me – KIRK’S CASTILE BAR SOAP. I have been using this wonderful bar soap for about fifteen years now. It’s used to wash my hands, serves very well as my shower soap, and I shampoo with it.At first, merely confused as to why the manufacturers have only increased the number and strength of artificial product scents, I have moved on to pure anger. Why add a bottled scent to your laundry, for example, that only magnifies the scent of your already overwhelming laundry softener???Inform yourselves, dear consumer, and avoid leading detergents, soaps, deodorants, cleaners, etc, that come straight from a chemical factory. There are dozens and dozens of equally effective products that are made from naturally occurring ingredients.

The soap has a fresh clean scent with loads of lather when you use it. It leaves the skin clean and silky, with a subtle, fresh scent.The first time that I used it, I was reminded of a time when I was very young and my grandmother was bathing me. That was 70 years ago. So thanks for a good product and especially for the memories.Kirk’s, a great product after 185 years.

Also Makes Great Homemade laundry Soap!
My family and I use this in the shower but also to wash our hair with and as well to make homemade laundry soap. It does a good job in the shower, doesn’t irritate the skin, and gets hair squeaky clean, but it is pretty drying to the hair and causes tangles. To be fair, it’s not advertised as shampoo. But what it excels in is laundry soap! I use a rotary veggie cutter to grate up one bar of this soap, and add in two cups of washing soda and a cup and a half of borax and I have enough powdered laundry soap to last several months. It comes out to a couple of cents per load. And the soap really gets clothes clean! I’ve also used this bar soap to spot clean fabrics, and it works really well too.

I don’t know what it is but liquid soaps give me body acne. This soap isn’t drying and cleans well without me getting pimples! The price is ridiculous! I get it’s not sold normally in Canada but I will have to find somewhere else to buy it again.
