Real food! But watch out for major price changes!!
UPDATE: the price on Amazon changes dramatically and suddenly! I bought it for the first time for $53 instead and subscribed. The price jumped up to $75! It’s cheaper in my local store for $73. I’ll wait for the price to return before renewing my subscription.I have so many dogs with so many needs. Vets say that the best-to-worst order of store-bought dog food is (1) raw, (2) freeze-dried, (3) canned, then (4) kibble, assuming that the ingredients are otherwise equal in quality and content. But if you have multiple dogs, you know how expensive it is to have your dogs eat raw all the time. We have 5 big and small dogs (pit bull, akc chihuahuas, dachshunds, KC cavaliers) with very different appetites, tastes, needs, ages, and activity levels. We wanted to get them off of the same-old kibble and took a sample of this home to try.The ingredients are rated 5-stars on Dog Food Adviser, human-grade, grain-free, preservative-free, real chunks of pre-cooked chicken, and made in the USA. It smells like instant-ramen once mixed with warm water. But would our picky dogs eat this? All of our dogs (and even cats) LOVE this mix. As soon as I reach for the bag in the fridge, they come running. They have more energy, are maintaining healthy weights, and are naturally drinking more water. Switching dog food can upset stomachs, but changing overnight to this human-grade food was seamless for every dog in our house. We now subscribe to this on Amazon, and 1 bag lasts a month for 5 dogs being fed 2x a day.Note: the difference between this and the Grandma Lucy Artisan food is that this is made of chickpeas (which provides more protein) and not potatoes (higher glucose), hence the slightly costlier price.

This was perfect for us
I was looking to place my dog on a raw diet due to his severe food allergies which caused him ear infections and skin rash. However, I wanted to find a pre-made raw food. This was perfect for us. It’s a raw food base – just add a cup of whichever raw meat we prefer and he has a well rounded meal. My dog is a large breed, so I use one cup of the pre-mix plus one cup of raw meat per meal (2 meals per day). I also add a chicken liver or two about once a week which boosts some nutrient value. As for crunch, there is none with this food, so every other day I feed my dog a raw meaty bone (chicken thigh, chicken leg, turkey neck, etc…) for the crunch, teeth, and calcium factor. It has been about 3 weeks now. Not only does he love the food, but his allergy issues cleared up within a week! The rash was gone very fast. The ear infection is clearing for sure, but that takes a little longer. He seems happier, more energetic and he is not licking and chewing himself anymore. I am very happy with this food!As for price, it is a little expensive, but not as expensive as other pre-made raw food brands (kibble and/or mixes). Because of the size of my dog (90 pounds), the 8 pound bag only lasts me about 3 weeks, and I do wish it was a little less expensive for that reason. However, I am going to stick with this food anyway because it agrees with my dog and that is what is really important. He means a lot to me and I am willing to sacrifice a little to make it work.

good ingredients and fairest price for quantity
I have a huge German Shepherd Dog that has allergies to most proteins. Salmon or fish seem to be the only protein he doesn’t have a bad reaction to. I was looking for a cleaner food to feed him to help reduce the amount of medication I have to give him to alleviate his itching. This has done wonders for him. I have been using half of this and half of the dry dog food I get from Costco (Salmon & Sweet Potato) because it is a great food, and he does well on it. This food has really helped with the itching and his coat actually looks a lot better! I am very picky with his food and his treats due to the itching issues, and I want him to have a good life and not one full of miserable itching. I will be sticking with this! I have price checked every fresh delivery food, every dehydrated/air dried food etc. and this food is the best price for the amount you get, and I am very happy with the ingredients!

It’s a good alternative…
I have a 3 1/2 year old American Bulldog that has gone through thousands of dollars in vet bills and worthless speculations. She has been on Grandma Lucy’s Rabbit Pureformance for several days now and I have noticed improvement in her scratching. My dog used to violently scratch at herself till she made herself bleed. We discovered that she was allergic to beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and duck. Due to the simple ingredients of Grandma Lucy’s she is doing good. It’s been several days and the scratching has decreased…Anyone with a dog that has bad allergies should really give this food a try. I’d also like to add that the preparation for making her food is very simple. Just add warm water to the freeze dried food until you get the desired consistency that you prefer. Let it stand for a few minutes and then it is ready to serve. The food honestly smells great and at times I have thought about trying it myself. It’s made with all human grade ingredients which is good to know. My dog Sadie is 75lbs and a 10 lb bag lasts us approximately 20 days. It’s a good deal and easy to prepare…give it a try. ****Update 10/29/2012****After several months of using this food, we had to discontinue using it. Unfortunately, she was excreting 95% of what she ate and was losing weight pretty quickly. We were feeding her twice the recommended amount and she still was losing weight. We saw our veterinarian and she told us that dogs have a tough time processing vegetable matter and really need a diet of animal protein/fat. I noticed that in the bag of Grandma Lucy’s that there was a disproportionate amount of vegetable matter vs. rabbit meat. So, we switched her food to “California Natural-Red Lentil and Kangaroo (kibble)”. She put all her weight back on, still is not scratching and looks great! Due to our dog losing weight (no matter how much Grandma Lucy’s we gave her) and excreting over 95% of what she ate, I have to decrease the star rating to a 3 out of 5. I still like this food (its human grade, no preservatives, and natural) but many dogs will probably have a similar issue.
