    Best vegan cheese
Hands down the best vegan cheese ever. I’ve tried them all and it tastes great, melts and has good texture. A little pricey but worth every penny.

  2. QuiteFrankly

    Truly creamy non dairy cheese
The Chao slices are delicious in taste and so very creamy in texture. They melt easily and are delicious on grilled cheese and quesadillas. They’ve spoiled me for other non dairy cheeses and made me afraid of them ever being unavailable.

my Search for the best vegan cheese is over 🙂
update: just a warning– however gross it may be, i am including it in case it helps anyone else out there. i had a few pieces of this at once because it’s so freaking delicious, and within a few minutes felt like someone was punching me right in the gut. got very bad diarreah within i’d say 20 minutes of eating it. i looked it up and found out this is a soy food intolerance. (if it were an allergy, there would be other symptoms.) i’m all i am just updating this in case it happens to anyone else – this cheese is absolutely fantastic, there’s nothing wrong with it, but make sure you are ok with eating coconut and soy. i am so, so so bummed i won’t be able to have this anymore because it is freaking delicious. i still recommend it highly, just make sure you don’t have a reaction to soy. if you google soy and diarreah you’ll see many articles. i will not remove any stars because it’s not this company’s fault that my body can’t handle soy. this is the very best non dairy cheese i’ve ever had in my life.older: I have searched for years for a non dairy cheese, and I was super sad to find that they all have a taste that is not much like cheese. As soon as I read the other reviews about this cheese, my hope came back to life, and, sure enough I can say bar none this is the best non dairy cheese I have ever had. This is our of their league. Each slice is thick and has the mouthfeel of cheese, and the taste tastes like cheese but with a very slight coconutty tinge (that’s for the mild one)— the jalapeño version is also amazing. I missed my egg and cheese breakfast and now can have it again. Even if I have a slice plain it tastes good and looks amazing.I am a little worried about soy in general but I think this one is fermented and made in Greece. Not sure if that makes a difference in terms of the phytoestrogens, So I eat in moderation but YUM. Could not believe how much I love these and that a product like this exists. I thought I’d never find a cheese I could eat again. No more runny nose, dry scalp or phlegm from eating dairy. After years of cheese deprivation, this feels like decadence. Because the slices are thick, one slice for me is enough— so I’m finding the price isn’t as bad as it seems bc with other vegan cheese I’d spend a lot of money and then it would sit there for months unused because I didn’t like the taste. This, I have about one slice every few days so it lasts me. It’s a staple in my house now )along with the jalapeño flavor.) totally recommend.

French guy/cheese head loving this 🙂
I became ill a couple years ago and cannot have diary nor egg anymore.I can still tell exactly how any cheese you show me tastes, the texture and whether it s good or notBut i cannot eat it anymore.Thought i was done with cheese until this. Even melts just like the real thing! It s closer to a rich american cheese for burgers of course than a proper cheese but oh my goodness! AMAZING. I think this is much better than the Kraft stuff or whatever other platicky yellow squares you can find.Use it in my burritos and burgers (yup, i can eat meat :). Does the trick very well.I ll post here as I experiment and cook with it. Havent grated it yet for pasta but probably something to try :)—————Update 6mo later: still love it :)Gotta be careful bc this thing is addictive. I start eating it alone and in no time the pack is gone.On the flipside you can also forget about it and the it hardens and becomes mostly inedible as they tend to dry up in the refrigerator. But here’s a good trick: if you place the thing inside a small ziplock you’re good to go for weeks! They don’t appear to grow mold or other critters. Good thing about vegetable-based stuff: it keeps very well for a while (kinda like margerine)

Unique and delicious when eaten cold.
I will stand in front of the fridge and just eat this plain and cold. I stand by eating Chao cold because I don’t personally think it’s very good when heated up. One of the main ingredients is potato start and it takes on a very starchy, pasty, and weird consistency. Eaten cold it’s delicious, taut, the taste is hard to place but I’d say it is earthy, salty, cheesy, and umami. Definitely recommended if eaten cold.

This is my favorite vegan cheese
I make grilled cheese with this, and also put it on top of veggie burgers, and it is the closest to real cheese that I have found. It takes a little bit longer than regular cheese to melt, but hen it does, it really tastes like real cheese.

    So good!
Two years ago my son and I decided to go vegan. The hardest part of the transition was finding vegan cheese that tasted good and melted like dairy cheese. This is the one! It’s got everything! It’s melting point is a bit higher than regular cheese, so you have to have some patience. We love this cheese on grilled cheese sandwiches, veggie burgers, and breakfast sandwiches. It has a good flavor that it’s very strong and it melts like American cheese.

So happy Amazon reviews helped me finally find this product! Great for those that can’t have dairy!
Dairy cheese was the last thing for me to convert to become fully vegan as usually vegan cheese tastes horrible. I never thought I’d find a vegan cheese that I could say was better then cow milk cheese but this is it! I love to eat it plain right out of the bag and it also melts so well in quesadillas or on vegan meats! I’ve made quesadillas with this for meat eaters and they prefer the flavor and texture of this cheese over their animal product counterpart! It’s so creamy! I use these Chao Slices and also Follow your Heart Smoked Gouda slices. I also love smoked cheese and that cheese helped replace my love for cow milk smoked cheddar. They don’t sell the latter on Amazon Fresh so I just buy some of that when I actually make it to whole foods in person. Definitely recommend this cheese for all people, meat eaters, lactose intolerant, those wanting to cut back on dairy, and vegans can all enjoy this one!
