My new favorite!
I love this cookbook! It is currently my favorite vegan cookbook and the only one I am using. There is so much I love about it. Not only are the recipes cheap, easy and delicious but the first part of the book is make ahead recipe bases that are AWESOME! So far I have made the muffin mix and the mac & cheese mix and both are spectacular. In fact, the muffin mix + the muffin recipe makes the best vegan muffins I have ever created since becoming a vegan (one year now). So far I have made coconut chocolate chip muffins and lemon blueberry muffins. And the mac and cheese is wonderful. She has single serving directions so you can make a cup of mac & cheese! And that is what I do! I made the butter cauliflower except I swapped seitan for cauliflower and added mushrooms. It is the closest recipe I have ever made that tastes like the butter chicken from my favorite Indian restaurant that I ate before becoming vegan. And that butter chicken is the best I have ever tasted (and I tried a lot of Butter Chickens before going vegan–both in restaurants and attempts at home).Though I haven’t made them yet, there are also cake mixes you can make that she gives directions on how to use to make cupcakes, a cake or a mug cake! I’ll be making those for mug cakes.I’ve made the ramen jars, the hummus ranch dressing, 25 Minute Taste of Italy, Creamy Tuscan Mushrooms (BEST SOUP EVER), and Mini Berry Crisps. All fantastic. I can’t wait to make more recipes from this amazing cookbook!

Best cookbook I’ve bought & I have a lot of vegan cookbooks 🙂
I cook a lot & meal prep, as I am a flight attendant. My job, while rewarding, can be exhausting & meal prepping is sometimes the last thing I want to do.This cookbook has been a game changer for me! The recipes are truly so fast & easy. I have saved a lot of money & I can meal prep my meals in less than an hour. They are delicious! I purchased this less than a week ago & have made 5 recipes thus far & have lost 3.5 lbs. I stay full much longer & have more energy as I’m eating more clean again. My only regret is wishing I found this sooner.

This was my favorite of the 4 vegan cookbooks I bought
When we first decided to become vegan we bought 4 cookbooks and this is the one we use the most.It has easy to follow instructions, also includes recipes for seasonings and sauces, has at least 1 picture of each recipe, and they really are pretty quick to make. I wouldn’t call all of them cheap but they have all been affordable enough. So far I haven’t come across a recipe that calls for anything complicated. We have several recipes we’ve tried so far a most of them are in our continuous rotation. One of my favs is the cauliflower and wild rice soup!Ive edited to add 1 small annoyance, I’ve noticed some cookbook authors having several full page pictures of just themselves in their cookbooks, and it isn’t my favorite. This one has many. And one of her and her boyfriend/husband/partner in a loving embrace about to kiss. Yes that is very sweet but I’m not interested in a photo album of the author. I just want to see the food and recipes. Social media feels is a place where I can expect that, and am happy to. But not in my cookbooks.Ive started to follow the author on her Instagram as well and TikTok I think, and heard she has YouTube videos I might check out as well.

FABULOUS
I’m a new vegan (due to having a low budget and cooking meat is hard for me). This book is beautiful, easy to read, and comes with more recipes than I could imagine! Each recipe comes with an indicator at the top showing approximate price, ingredients, and time required. There was a great variety of recipes and lots of great tips on making staples such as mixes, dressings, etc…I study nutrition at school and work for $15 an hour and truly have to be careful down to the penny when it comes to feeding myself and I think these meals cover your all your macros without and are low cost. Remember to pair some of these recipes together!!! Don’t just eat a salad with no soup or main course unless you plan on adding a protein (not all of the salads had protein added).

Great Ideas
There were plenty of great recipe ideas in this book. My only critiques were the absence of an Alfredo pasta (I thought the pasta on the cover was an Alfredo before I purchased the book) and that the preview/sample doesn’t show the table of contents.

Sam Turnbull Does It Again!
I’ve never tried a Sam Turnbull recipe I haven’t loved. She has a fabulous website chocked full of fast, easy recipes and very entertaining videos, so when she announced her newest cookbook, I pre-ordered on the spot. It does not disappoint! I’ve only made a handful of these new recipes thus far, but I can tell already that this will be my go-to vegan bible. I’m always skeptical when a recipe promises to be under 30 minutes, but Sam keeps her word. She keeps ingredients simple and instructions clear. This is a great cookbook for a newbie cook or a seasoned chef, vegan or not. We had the 20-minute Sticky Ginger Stir-Fry (p164) last night and at the last minute I decided to add the vegan butter sautéed tofu from the Herb Butter Tofu & Broccoli recipe (p188). It was 25 minutes from conception to table:) I great way to end a busy day… Thanks Sam!

Delicious, Affordable, Fun!
I have been a reader of Sam’s blog for years. Most of my go-to recipes are from her! I also have her first book, which I use every week. This book does her blog and first cookbook justice! There are so many delicious recipes; I have already tried some, and it’s been 24 hours since I got it! The Herbed Butter Tofu with Broccoli is deeeelicious! And try her Curry Coconut Carrot soup for a soup that’s fast but still has flavor! I also appreciate the many, many flexible recipes she has: many different dressings, baking mixes, and flavoring mixes you can whip up for *much* cheaper (and healthier!) than you can buy them! I will always buy *anything* Sam writes because I know that she’s a thorough tester, and I know that her recipes will come out well! Do yourself a favor and buy this book. 🙂

I’ve been cooking vegan now for 8 years. It took me about 2 years to master the spices and methods but I continue to learn everyday. I’ve been following Sam Turnball for quite sometime. Her first cookbook served me well so I knew without a doubt, I would purchase the second one. It did not disappoint. After 8 years of basically doing two to three recipes from my 60+ vegan cookbook collection, this one will be put to greater use. As I turned each page, I couldn’t believe the recipes, everything I wanted and more in one book. I wonder if Sam is aware of the many camping recipes found here. Most look fast and easy. Many make aheads and even portable. This book will serve beginners with vegan cooking, people looking for fast meals, people looking to up their cooking game… the suggestions and applications are endless. Wonderful book!

If you’re new to veganism, Sam Turnball is (in my opinion) an ideal person to follow. Initially, I subscribed to her mailing list for recipes, as soon as her book was printed; I couldn’t wait to get a copy!No fancy expensive ingredients, just using everyday ingredients I have made some very tasty meals.I just wish that cilantro had coriander in brackets or zucchini had courgette in brackets….. I find it a little confusing when I have to google things lol
