Amazingly delicious and beautiful gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar–free desserts from the popular Bakerita blog
Rachel Conners began her blog as a hobby to share baking recipes with friends, but when she started to focus more on gluten-free, paleo, and vegan recipes to make things she could share with her sister, who was following a strict diet due to health concerns, Rachel quickly realized she was onto something. Bakerita surged in popularity as fans flocked to it for delicious and beautifully photographed recipes. Interest in gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar–free foods continues to grow in popularity, yet there are remarkably few books available focused just on desserts, and even fewer with recipes that even beginner bakers can make at home. That’s where Bakerita comes in, offering recipes for everything from breakfast treats like Lavender-Lemon Raspberry Scones, pies and tarts such as Chocolate Mousse Pie, cakes including Mocha Chip Cheesecake, and updated all-time favorites like chocolate chip cookies, all made without any hard-to-find ingredients.

Recipes Are Easy to Convert to AIP
I purchased this back in 2021 and waited until now to write a review so that I could make all of the recipes first. I haven’t tried ALL of the recipes, but the ones that I have made have been fabtastic! Can’t have almonds? Substitute with cassava flour; can’t have Almond extract? Substitute with Vanilla extract (and vice versa). Most recipes are easy to follow and require little effort. My family’s favorite recipes include the Pecan Pie Blondies, the No Bake Chocolate Almond Butter Bars (I substitute Peanut Butter for the almond butter—SO GOOD!), the Strawberry Shortcake bars, and the Salted Brownie Energy Bites(See photos). Most recipes are grain-free, gluten free, dairy-free and made without refined sugar. There’s something for everyone in this little gem of a baking book.

I adore this book, it is my baking go to.
I have given this book to all of my friends. I use this book weekly, it’s that good. She has done exhaustive research in her recipes, believe me I know from experience. She is an excellent baker who takes pride in her recipes. Get this book! I am so grateful she made it.

The holy grail of baking for anyone with egg intolerance/allergies
Let me say first that I have just opened this book and have not baked one recipe in it. HOWEVER, this is the very first cookbook that I have seen/purchased that did not require multiple substitutions, or will allow me to bake just about every single recipe in it.My only real intolerance is eggs. I discovered this in my mid forties and eliminating them and treating the intolerance has been a godsend. My personal experience is that I do better on a Paleo/Keto type of diet, but almost all GF, Keto recipes use a lot of eggs. I have been searching for this particular book for a few years and am so glad to have found it.As an integrative medicine provider, I run an elimination diet coaching program as well. Just about every recipe in this book applies to that as well (peanut butter can easily be swapped out for any other nut butter). So, I am also grateful to have a reference on hand to recommend. The other fantastic feature of the recipes in this book, in addition to the amazing photography for reference, is the fact that the ingredients are widely available and I already have everything I need according to my personal eating habits! I recently purchased another award-winning baking book for gluten-free grains and flours, but most of the recipes use highly specialized ingredients. If you are not constantly baking, the cost would be too much for the occasional specialty recipe. That other book also requires superior baking skills (which I personally have, but could not make a recommendation to casual home cooks). I am so grateful for the simplicity of the recipes and attention to detail.Bravo! I am digging into this book ASAP to make my first recipe. The challenge will be choosing one to begin with. Thank you, from my whole heart, for this tremendous effort for those of us who don’t fit neatly into popular trendy diets.

Cookbook to make desserts GF and dairy-free
Cookbook for baking – especially for those needing GF, dairy free desserts. I have only had the book a short time, but the five recipes I have made tasted great.

Check ingredients
While this cookbook has a lot of good recipes and is gluten-free, I tend not to want to use so much of the coconut oil. I would caution to research the nutritional value of ingredients like coconut oil, coconut cream, and even coconut flour. I prefer to use plant butter instead of coconut oil because I think it is the healthier choice.

Enjoying Homemade Keto/lactofree sweets
I am lactose intolerant and my A1Cs have been climbing. So I have made a bunch of healthy eating changes, but was struggling to find Keto desserts that didnt include milk, yogurt, etc. This book offers all kinds of options for people who want to eat Keto desserts and also want to avoid milk in my case, or eat vegan. In cases where a dairy item is called out, vegan options are mentioned. If you are allergic to almonds, almond milk, coconut flour, coconut sugar, etc, this may not be the book for you as the author uses these ingredients as healthy alternatives to milk, white flour, sugar and brown sugar. So far I have made two batches of keto cookies and two batches of keto donuts. The first time I followed the instructions to the letter, and the second time I made some tweaks to create new variations. I look forward to trying more recipes and then tweaking them to make other variations. My only complaint would be nutrition info (calories, protein, sugar, fat, fiber) is not listed for each recipe. So being a spreadsheet person, I created a tab for each recipe that I’ve used, listed the ingredients and nutrient info from the packaging, and then estimated the nutritional values per 100 gram serving. Then I entered my custom items into my food tracker app and use my scale to determine my snack’s weight & nutritional values. Not as easy as scanning a barcode on the box and having the nutritional info prepopulated, but not a showstopper. Especially since it’s difficult to find Keto Vegan snacks at a Walmart or grocery store chain.

I almost sent this back as it was not the book I meant to order, but I decided to try 1 recipe to see if I liked it. I am glad I did!! I have since tried 6 or so recipes and each one has been fantastic!! Most of the recipes I have used require an hour or more to let the batter/dough come together, so keep that in mind. The only citicism I have is that I need to use my magnifier to read the fractions in the ingredients list. But that is not a big deal when balanced against how amazing everything tastes!! I highly recommend this book as a great replacement for hours spent looking for Paleo treat recipes on the net. Not all recipes are Paleo, but I am not stringent on that (ie. I still love oatmeal cookies). Fabulous g-free, dairy free, Paleo treats!!!

This is such a great book. There are a lot of really good recipes. If you love desserts then this is the book for you. I would say that there are some everyday recipes and also those for sharing on special occasions. I’m really pleased I got this book. I’ve made four of the recipes over the last two weeks. They have all been tasty and gone down well with friends and family. The Mexican brownies are rich and lasted in the fridge for 7 days. Filling and satisfying. Yum.
