Great meat substitute – Love it in many recipes
I’ve used this meat substitute ground beef in tacos, Shepard’s pie, spaghetti meat sauce, sloppy joes etc… it tastes comparable to regular ground beef. They tend to get dry quickly when just cooked in non-stick pan (for example when used for taco meat) so not the juicy (greasy) consistency of regular ground beef but for me that is a plus. I love the taste and have several in the freezer on standby as I use this plant based ground beef very often… I tried other brands of plant based ground beef ( i.e.: Impossible beef, Beyond Meat and Ground-in) and I like the Amazon Fresh version of plant based beef the best.. .my 2nd choice is Ground-in. The problem I had several times was that this product sometimes goes Out of Stock for a week or three, so I started stocking up and keeping at least a couple packages in the freezer at all times… good to have a large freezer in the garage I guess. I purchased this beef probably a dozen times by now – it’s great. CONS: It’s pricey – over $6 a pound is double of regular beef, so it’s pricey to eat plant-based / vegan. It makes no sense to me because plants are cheaper than meat production, so it should be half price of regular beef and not double the price. Price is a bit of a rip off in my opinion.

The product holds together to make patties. The seasoned meat makes a great meatless burger! Two patties cook quickly on our small electric summer skillet with a teaspoon of peanut oil.Ease of preparation…Great smell.texture, and taste…

Great texture but flavor could be improved
Perfect texture! However, this product has a smoky and slightly sweet flavor profile. Therefore, it is good for red sauce pasta dishes and some burgers. However, it fell short when it came to tacos. The flavor of the “meat” clashed with taco seasonings. This would be better if it had more of a neutral flavor.

I made tacos with these and it came out soo good. It makes a lot of servings and I still have half of the package left. I will make burgers with the rest this week.Amazing price for amazing vegan food. I hope it stays cheap and in stock.-To make the tacos I sautéed spinach first and then added half the package of grounds (thawed) to the spinach and mixed in hot sauce and these spices: onion/garlic/cayenne/black pepper/chili powder/chili lime/salt/vegan bacon seasoning. Stir and fry all of that together until grounds are cooked.Transfer to bowl to cool and then sautée some leftover mashed potatoes in the same pan just used (you can use whatever kind of potato you want but this is what I had lol)Then heat up all your tortillas on stovetop and plate them, add hot sauce to tortillas, then load up with the ground meat/spinach mix and potatoes. Price Increase of over 300% in one week?!?
We were excited about the new Amazon Fresh plant based meat alternative products — Just as good as the Beyond and Impossible, ingredients that aren’t scary, and for a really great price! Then last WEEK, we purchased the 16oz ground version at the usual price of $2.73. Then they raised the price to $8.69! That’s over 300% increase in a single week!!! Is this a typo??? If not, forget it – we’ll just go back to Beyond and Impossible.

If I could give a 0 i would
I made a “beef” stroganoff with this assuming it would be fine since its been a few years of meat alternatives existing, maybe it wouldnt have that smell but honestly the smell exists and is retained and overpowers everything, including the seasonings I added. I prefer the beyond smell over this one and both are just foul and overpowering. I would not recommend, sorry. If you can handle the smell or are unaffected, go for it, but if you’re looking to alternatives to beyond/impossible, I wouldnt say this is a great one.
